Poor Meal Planning… a Money Pit!
1. My life is nuts!
Say no more.
2. So I live on the run.
Fall baseball, piano, carpool, laundry, Spring baseball, gymnastics, church night, laundry, girl scouts, boy scouts, cheerleading, laundry, practice (which is always during the dinner hour), and oh yeah, more laundry.
3. So making a grocery list is an afterthought.
If I make a list, maybe on a napkin with a pink marker, I make it on the run just like everything else that ends up at the bottom of my purse with gum on it!
4. So I usually don't make a grocery list at all!
Then I go to the store with no list. Even if I go for just milk, I'll come out having spent $50 and forgotten the milk (of course).
5. Or, I make the list but forget to bring it!
And what mom (with all her spare time) is going to take the time to turn around and go home to get the list when you're already practically there? Just trust those few remaining brain cells to help you remember what was on your list.
6. Furthermore, there's NO time to sit down and create a list!
Sit down? What's that? When, tell me, am I going to sit down on a regular, predicted basis and create a grocery list for this week's meal plan? Plus, the only regular place I sit, there's never pen and paper!
7. Anyway, I run out of ideas for meals.
Here we go again. One hundred and ninety two ways to fix eggs. Omelet Moo Goo Gai Pan coming right up! Who has time to have a recipe swapping party with Lolly and Polly and all the other June Cleaver wannabe's?
8. So I go to the store without a list thinking I'll find ideas.
And I come home with $100 worth of groceries and I still don't have anything to fix for dinner! What's up with that?
9. After all, I do have a few meals planned.
So I at least have 2 or 3 meals planned (in my head, of course) for the week. I go to fix one and wouldn't you know it, somebody ate half of what I need to make the meal. I can't win! Back to Wendy's…
10. Therefore, back to the main problem…
I have no real meal plan for the week!
It's 4:30 and here I am asking again, "What can I fix for dinner?!"
